On your first session, your therapist will ask you to complete an"Intake Form". The health questions are necessary as they assist your therapist in designing the best type of massage for you and because people with certain conditions cannot receive massage, others require a physician's clearance. All information is confidential. This is only necessary at your first visit. On subsequent visits, you need only inform us of any changes.
Once you have completed your forms, your therapist will briefly discuss them with you and answer any questions you might have. If you will arrive 15 minutes early for your first massage, this initial information-gathering time will not cut into the time of your actual massage.
Your therapist will then leave the room while you undress and relax on the heated table, covering yourself with a clean, soft, flannel sheet. For a full body massage, most people undress completely, however, you may leave on your underpants if you choose. (NOTE: It is very important that you visit the restroom prior to your massage. It disrupts your relaxation if you have to get off the table, wrap up and run to the restroom half-way through, and 'holding it' is just plain unpleasant, defeating the purpose of the massage!)
The room will be warm, softly lit with soft instrumental music playing in the background to enhance relaxation.
You will be draped at all times, except for the area being worked on. Once that area is finished, it will be immediately covered up again. This protects your modesty and ensures that you will not get cold.
Most people chat a bit at the beginning of the massage, but then they generally close their eyes and give over to relaxation. This is your time, however, we have found that the best results are obtained with minimum conversation.
Your therapist will check in with you from time to time to ask if you are warm enough/too warm, if the pressure being used is sufficient/too much, if you are experiencing pain or soreness in certain areas, but if at ANY time anything is at all uncomfortable, please inform your therapist IMMEDIATELY so that adjustments can be made. Your feedback is vital to a good massage experience, so let your therapist know if something is especially good too!
After the massage, your therapist will leave the room while you dress. At that time she will give you a glass of water, collect payment and ask if you would like to set up another appointment.
It is important to drink alot of water over the next 24 hours. Your body will be trying to eliminate toxins, and it needs your help! People who do not drink sufficient water may experience muscle soreness, headache or mild nausea.
